When we’re kids, we’re taught to act like adults. Then when we’re adults, we cling desperately to childhood. Okay, no huge revelation there, but it’s so important to our lives. If you don’t let yourself be a kid once in a while, you’re going to have a pretty boring life.
- Throw a little color on it. They always say creativity and art is the child inside you still thriving. Paint even if you can’t paint. Paint especially if you can’t paint. Dye your hair. Dye your clothes. It’s all temporary and changeable. Have a little fun with the rainbow.
- Do something absolutely ridiculous with your hair. When you were a kid you probably took scissors to your bangs. There were probably disastrous results. But you were probably pretty damn excited to have done what you want. Fuck the idea that you have to have long hair or brown hair or blonde hair or a perfect bob. Do what you want.
- Get dirty. Get off WoW and play kick the can, frisbee, or kickball. You’d be surprised how much fun you’ll have hopping fences, scraping up your knees, and getting your hands dirty.
- Be innocent. PDA is great and all, but when is the last time you just held hands with your significant other?
- Wreak havoc on your local department store. Sure, you might get kicked out, but how much fun will you have playing Marco Polo, tag, and unleashing the balls out of the cage? (make horrible innuendos about this while you’re at it)
- Don’t match. Stop trying to make sure your sneakers go perfectly with your top. Wear a sideways ponytail. Wear neon shorts and an obnoxious shirt. Have fun with fashion instead of being a slave to it.
- Watch a movie with a G rating. Toy Story has always proved that you don’t need gratuitous cursing, blood and sex to make a movie interesting. Gather up your friends and see Cars 2 or grab a box of tissues and watch Toy Story 3.
- Take a nap. You played hard all day then knocked out on the couch for a few minutes. Maybe you’d be less cranky if you got some z’s.
- Hug your friends and family. You all love each other. Show it.
- Have some ridiculous, absurd, everyone-is-staring-at-us-fun. Just do it! Act up and make a scene. Life is too short to care that people are judging you.
