Anonymous asked: I always feel like shit after working out - being hungry and exhausted and all - thus, I never stick to it long enough to enjoy the benefits. I'm over 200 lbs so these benefits are a long time away.I'm tired of being overweight, but feeling like crap for the next year or so doesn't seem worth it. It's almost like a "Damned if you do; damned if you don't" situation. *sigh* I'm likely just being a brat.
If you feel absolutely horrible, you’re pushing too hard. You shouldn’t be starving or absolutely exhausted. You should be worn out, but not exhausted, and you should have eaten a decent meal before working out, so you shouldn’t be really hungry. Plus, you should be drinking a protein shake after. If you’re going to stick with anything in life, you have to start slow. Walk a mile one day, then walk two, then jog half a mile and walk half a mile. Start doing a few reps with dumbbells. If you kill yourself in the gym right off the start, you’re not going to stick with it. I still don’t kill myself at the gym every day. If I ever feel faint or nauseous or exhausted, I’ve pushed too hard. You should only be completely spent sometimes. You can’t live your life pushing yourself to the breaking point at the gym every single day.
Slow and steady makes it a lifestyle, and that keeps the weight off. Think of it as a lifestyle change, not just shedding pounds. Make small goals, like doing a few more reps each week, or upping the weight by a few pounds every couple of weeks, jogging farther without losing your breath, doing the 30 day shred, cutting out soda one week and fast food the next and building a healthier life. If you think the only results are being a lot smaller a long way away, you won’t last.
