Anonymous asked: I want to be a vegetarian, because I don't like it when animals are killed needlessly when I could eat other alternative forms of meat. But I have two problems: my family incorporates meat into a lot of the food we eat and it would be seen as rude if we don't eat it. My other problem is that my eating is not healthy - I tend to restrict food intake, leading me to be underweight - so people will think I want to do this to lose even more weight and maybe this is partly true. What should I do?
I don’t eat meat but my entirely family does. You just have to learn how to incorporate different foods, like soy, tofu, quinoa. Being a vegetarian doesn’t necessarily lead to weightloss. If anything, I gained weight because I ate a lot more carbs in place of meat. If your eating is unhealthy, that needs to be dealt with whether you are or aren’t a vegetarian. You need to talk to your family about getting help for that no matter what.
